EIS Contributions

The Employment Insurance System, (EIS) was implemented in January 2018 as a social security network aimed at helping workers who lost their jobs for financial assistance and seeking new jobs by PERKESO.

EIS Contribution Rate

All private sector employers are required to pay monthly contributions for each employee, excluding civil servants, domestic workers, and self-employed individuals.

The contribution rates for the EIS are as follows:

  • Employer's Share: 0.2% of the employee's monthly salary.
  • Employee's Share: 0.2% of their own monthly salary.

All employees aged 18 to 60 must be enrolled in the EIS, except those who are 57 years or older and have not made any contributions before turning 57.

Effective 1 October 2024, PERKESO will raise the contribution wage ceiling from RM5,000 to RM6,000 per month. For employees earning over RM5,000, the contribution rates can be found in the Third Schedule, Act 4, and the Second Schedule, Act 800. Any employee with a salary above RM6,000 will have their contributions capped at RM6,000.

How to Pay EIS

To streamline the process of managing registrations, updating records, and making contribution payments, PERKESO introduced the PERKESO ASSIST Portal on 1 January 2018.

  • Registration: Employers must register to obtain an ASSIST Portal ID by completing the registration form available on the PERKESO website and submitting it to their nearest PERKESO office.

  • Accessing the Portal: Employers can log in to the ASSIST Portal at https://assist.perkeso.gov.my/employer/login.

Payment Options for EIS

Employers need to be registered and have an account with the appointed banks. Further details can be obtained by contacting the following banks:

Employers can also make payments at PERKESO offices using ACR references along with contribution data submitted through the ASSIST Portal:

  • Maybank Berhad
  • RHB Bank Berhad (cash only)
  • Public Bank Berhad (starting 1 March 2018)
